suffering for doing good....hmm sounds like a ridiculous statement hugh? Yeah it did to me at first, too. Actually to be totally honest I had never really grasped the concept, yet everyday i had struggled with it, and still do.
Suffering for doing good. Why would you suffer for doing something good? Seems unfare. I was praying one night during my daily devotions, and just really had been tested those past few days with personal issues, and I kep tasking God....why? Why everytime I try to do something good, I suffer for it. Why everytime i try it just backfires. And just felt like I was getting nowhere in the situation I had been dealt by the hand of God with my family. Adn now that I think about it, it out such a downer (of thats a word) on me, everytime i thought about it. But I was praying one night for God to just show me the right words, give me some sort of sign, and point me in the right direction if what im doing isnt the right way. And once again, God followed through! (I love that about him!)
2 Peter 20-23 says,"But how is it to your credit if you receive a beating for doing wrong and endure it? But if you suffer for doing good and you endure it, this is commendable before God. 21.To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps."
22. "He commited no sin, and no deceit was found in his mouth."
23. "When they hurled their insults at him, he did not retaliate; when he suffered, he made no threats. Instead, he entrusted himself to him who judges justly."
Awesome isn’t it? I was pretty shocked myself. If we would just take the time to lay it down before the Lord, he will show up. He will. And even though sometimes we don’t feel like we’re getting anything out of it, or in the mood, just give him the benefit of the doubt! He did for us. He SURE did for us. This one speaks for itself.....
